SLACKERS DELIGHT NO. 1

Slackers Delight is a book which contains 160 Black and White pages of artwork, done by 13 friends, ranging from illustration, graphic design, photography and type design to pure madness.
Each artist had 10 pages at their disposal and were free to do whatever they wanted. The result is diverse but represents a common gritty, raw and experimental attitude towards image making.
Like the artwork, the book itself is a DIY project and is self published.

Slakcers Delight is:

Simon Rachwan
Rasmus Folehave Hansen
Olas Bjørnson
Anders Gerning
Martin C. Fagerlund
Thor Leon Olsen
Martin Ransby
Søren Severin
Jacob Birch
Thomas Pålsson
Tue Simon Bahnsen
Chet
Andreas Arnild Peiterse

The book will be released on Thursday the 10th of March 2011 from 19.00 - ?, at Mesteren & Lærlingen, Flæsketorvet 86, 1711 København V.
There will be cheap beers, fresh people and Slick Nick, Cheese-A-Lot and Tue Pack will spin some dusty funky vinyl.
Hope to see you there.

UNDERSTAND RAP!

Rap songs are famous for their double entendres, clever turns of phrase, and general ingenuity, but that doesn’t mean things always make sense the first time around. Enter Understand Rap, a very funny pop-cultural reference book based on the website of the same name, which precisely explains the confusing lyrics and terms used in rap songs using language that even the most un-hip person can understand. The juxtaposition of a dry, academic tone with hip-hop terminology results in a book that’s as entertaining as it is informative.

LOLLI-POP

Lolli-pop is the latest conceptual still life project by Italian born photographer Massimo Gammacurta. His lollies are edible icons. The brands are as sweet as candy for the palate and the eye. The brand association has in fact been replaced by a new meaning through the materiality and the abstract action painting dynamic gestures. When Massimo first distributed his lolli-pops on the Internet as an art experiment, interest amongst bloggers and fashionistas exploded. With this book, his lolli-pops of world renowned brands are released into the world once again for consumption, but now in print…

Massimo Gammacurta lives in New York and has worked for publications and brands such as Details, Forbes, Nike, Lexus, Surface Magazine and Esquire UK. He has won many awards and participated in 2009 in the Sweet Fashion Exhibition in Cannes, France, The Master of Hasselblad Exhibition in Hong Kong, Copenhagen, New York and London, and the Instant Book Show in New York.

WILL I GO TO HELL FOR THIS

WILL I GO TO HELL FOR THIS is a new Danish book from three dedicated authors about graffiti on the Copenhagen S-trains from 1984 to 2009. After more than two years of work, more than 75 interviews and after selecting over 600 photos, the final result is a book that gives an overview of 25 years of Copenhagen S-train graffiti and offers the reader a rare glimpse into the hidden world of the graffiti writers. To cater for both the local Danish audience and the international graffiti community, the book comes in two versions, one with Danish text and another version with English text.

LOVE THIS BOOK!

Closely based on Haring’s own concept for the monograph he wanted to publish before his untimely death, this volume represents more than a decade of research and contains a wealth of unpublished photographic and written material including drawings, studio photographs, and journal entries. From chalk drawings deep in the New York City subways to murals in Pisa and Berlin; collaborations with William Burroughs and the famous body painting of Grace Jones, this book follows the incredible trajectory of Keith Haring’s artistic career: how a young man from a small town in rural Pennsylvania came to revolutionize the art world—and the course of art history—within little more than a decade. An incredibly prolific artist, Keith Haring created countless bold, provocative, endearing, and unforgettable images that continue to inspire artists—and delight children—worldwide. Tracing the arc from his early subway "tags" to his poignant work on social issues as diverse as AIDS, illiteracy and apartheid, this visually stunning book is the definitive work on Keith Haring.

JUXTAPOZ PHOTO

Anyone can snap a picture, but it takes a true artist to create a stunning photograph. We assembled our favorite photographers into this brand new collection, Juxtapoz Photo.
For the first time, Juxtapoz Photo pulls together in one volume the featured artists who since 1994 have been redefining a new movement of art and culture through provocative lenswork, groundbreaking camera angles, intense and often irreverent subject matter, moody and vibrant colors, and intimate portraiture. Juxtapoz Photo showcases a diverse group of current photographers, both established and up and coming, with a mix of personal and documentary images. The photos are eclectic in style and subject — from portraits of celebrities and anonymous people, to snapshots from travels abroad and intimate moments captured on film — but all photos are united by the Juxtapoz stamp of intriguing freshness and outsider perspectives. Contributors include Corey Arnold (whose stunning image graces the cover), Estevan Oriol, Alex Prager, Angela Boatwright, Dylan Maddux, Sam Bassett, Ye Rin Mok, Jesse Pollock, Heather Culp, Andy Mueller and many more.
